From Sketchbook to Shelf: The Story Behind My Designs

From Sketchbook to Shelf: The Story Behind My Designs

Every collection I create starts with a simple idea. My Ranthambhor Collection—featuring peacocks and mango trees—was inspired by Ranthambhor Tiger Reserve in Rajasthan, a place where nature and heritage sit side by side. The colours, patterns, and atmosphere of the reserve gave me the starting point for this range of high-end, design-led home décor and giftware.

Step 1: Sketching the idea

I always begin with pencil and paper. I make rough sketches to get the shapes and layout down. These are quick and simple, but they help me see how the elements might work together. For this collection, I focused on the peacock and the mango tree—two strong symbols from the landscape that translate beautifully into contemporary home accessories.

Step 2: Moving to Procreate

Once the sketches feel right, I transfer them into Procreate. This is where I try different placements, experiment with repeats, and test out colour palettes. I keep adjusting until the design feels balanced and ready for print. This digital process allows me to refine each design so it works across a range of luxury kitchen textiles and designer tableware.

Step 3: Seeing the product

The most rewarding part is when the design moves off the screen and onto an actual product. Whether it’s a tea towel, coaster, or placemat, the artwork becomes something useful, stylish, and ready for everyday life. Each product in the Ranthambhor Collection is designed to bring quality craftsmanship and design-led style into modern homes.

Why I enjoy the process

It takes a lot of small steps and refinements to get from the first sketch to a finished product. But when I hold something from the Ranthambhor Collection in my hands, I know the process was worth it. It’s a reminder of how an idea can grow into something real—high-quality home décor and thoughtful giftware that people can enjoy in their homes or give as unique presents.
